Making copy of the backend database to a local one and relink to it RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm looking to develop a routine that would allow the end user to work on his computer, by making a copy of the back-end database into a local one and relink to this new database (.accdb) and later one revertthis local database to the backend again (i know, make sure nobody else works on the backend database or I will have inconsistent data..)

The problem that I have with docmd.copyobject and docmd.copydatabase is that the tables are involved in relationships and would no let me delete them, of course I don't want to go thru the nightmare of deleting the relationships and rebuilding them (or I have to??)

can I just populate the tables via SQL statements? if so how can I do this been the source and the destination 2 different databases???

any ideas? i'm sure tons of developers have gone thru this dilema before

    thanks so much
