Deployment to another machine RRS feed

  • Question

  • It looks like there are a number of deployment options with Windows 8 but my question is really about deploying to another machine during the development process itself.  The best analogy I can think of is that of Windows phone development using a device connected via USB.  This has proved to be very effective and I am wondering if something similar might be made available in Windows 8?  The scenario I am thinking of is similar to my current set up - a powefull desktop (or laptop) for development tethered to a less poweful tablet/phone device (Something like a Dell Inspiron Duo running Windows 8?).

  • I'm used to the deploy to connected device too (for windows mobile 6.1 devices) and for playing with Win8 on a tablet I've been copying the solution files to a usb stick and rebuilding on the tablet (I am only playing with Metro development so this works for the moment). You said there are a number of other options... what are they out of interest?

  • Specifically I was thinking of 'Click Once' deployment - that maybe sounds better than what you are doing at the moment?
