MS Project Addin and third party COM components RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have created an AddIn for MS Project 2007 using Visual Studio 2010, .net 4.0.

In one of button_click event handler I am creating object of a third party COM component and use it for further operations.

This works fine on Windows XP SP3 but when I try it on Windows 7 Ultimate it fails saying 'failed to create ....'.

Other observation is if I try to create it in sample Excel 2007 addin on Win7 Ulti, it works but fails for a separate MS project 2007 addin on same machine it fails.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

  • Then check if you have permissions to create that object. Try to create it in a standalone WinForms application by running the app with regualur and elevated permissions.

BTW, are there any other details besides  'failed to create ....'.?

  • Hello,

Most probably, you need to have that COM component registered on your PC.
