I am currently using Data Application Block for my Asp.Net Web application. However, on the production server, my client uses Machine.Config to control the connection string and everything else. My question is:

    (1) Is there anyway I can make my web.config file to refer the machine.config instead of dataconnection.config which is created by data application block?

    (2) I can still use sqlhelper class from data application block without creating dataconnection.config file?

    Thank you

I had this same problem with a client. They had over 500 applications on their web server, so they didn't want to have to update 500 different config files if (and when) something changed.

I ended up implementing a dynamic connection string class (search Google for some related articles) in EasyObjects so I could set the connection string manually from any location I desired.
