How to disable the desktop... RRS feed

  • Question

  • ...I know, sounds crazy.  Everyone wants to disable Metro, but I want to do the opposite.  I want to disable the desktop.

Actually, I'm making a Kiosk like application.  I want only the application (metro) to be run and I don't want users to be able to leave the app.  Additionally, it will be run via remote control (like a windows media center style remote).  We need to allow users to insert a USB drive/stick.  Everytime the USB drive is inserted, the desktop thinks it needs to open the drive and it kicks out of the Metro app.

I tried gpedit.msc and changed the Autoplay/Autorun settings which are supposed to disable this behavior, but It doesn't seem to work.

    Anyone have some good ideas?
