Word 2010 Backstage controls alignment RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I am using Word 2010 to customise Backstage view. I have added a new tab which has 2 columns. All callbacks are working fine however I have a question on placement of controls in the second columns. Currently the controls look like this

    However I would like them to be next to each other, something like this

    I tried group box, layout container but can not achieve the expected layout. Could someone please help. Below is my ribbon XML

    <secondColumn>
    	<group id="grpDocTags" label="Case details" getVisible="getVisibilityDocTagsGroup">
            <topItems>
    			<labelControl id="lblTgdAnalysts" label="Primary user/s"></labelControl>
    			<button id="btnAddAnalysts" label="Add..." />
    			<labelControl id="lblTaggedAnalysts" getLabel="getLabelTAggedAnalyst"></labelControl>
    		</topItems>
    			</group>
    </secondColumn>

    Thanks.

    Hope this helps!! Regards, Pranav Vaidya PS: If my reply has resolved the issue you are facing please mark it as answer so that it will help others on the forum who may have similar issue.

  • Hi,

    I think I should have done a bit more reading about the controls before asking this question. I figured out how to align controls horizontally, it is using the LayoutContainer and setting LayoutChildren propety like below.

    <layoutContainer id="layoutOne" layoutChildren="horizontal">
    <!-- your controls go here -->
    </layoutContainer>

    Thanks to those who viewed my query.
