mirroring between SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition and SQL 2008 R2 Datacenter Edition RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a situation where we have mirrored a few databases between our Production SQL Servers and Disaster Recovery SQL Servers. Both PROD and DR SQL servers are currently running SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition.

We are in the process of upgrading our SQL servers to SQL 2008 R2 Datacenter Edition. In this process, the DR servers might get upgraded first and a few days before the PROD servers get upgraded. So, for a few days, there will be a mismatch with DR servers running Datacenter Edition and PROD servers running Enterprise Edition.

Could anyone please let us know if there any known issues with Mirroring in such a scenario?

  • I've not done this with DC Edition yet, but there should not be any problem. We do use this between Std and Ent Editions, and it works just fine.

  • I think should be fine until db are active on principal- once they failled over to DR servers then you won't be failled them back to prod until servers edition upgraded to DC.
