  • What pass in ICE did you put the key?

  • Are you sure you got the key right. I remember doing something like this, making a typo and having the installer explode.

    Your key should go in PASS 1 - windowsPE

    In my case:

    Components >> 1 windows PE

    >> amd64_Microsoft-Windows-Setup_neutral

    >> UserData >> ProductKey >>

    WillShowUI = OnError.

  • pass 1 for shellx86

    pass 4 for shell-setupx86

    same result ....

  • Remove the key from Pass 4, and keep the key in Pass 1. Double check that the key is typed in correctly with the dashes.

    Where did you get the key? Is it a key you got from the distributor via Microsoft? Or is this the trial key?

  • Perhaps you are not making a 64 bit image (that's the only kind I use.)

    Since 8.1 uses SIM, you'll find it in the bottom left "Windows Image" section.

    Windows 8.1 Embedded Industry

    >>> Components

    It should have a + box on the left side

    open that, you want to add "UserData"
