problem Encrypting Database from master key RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All,

    I need a help..

I use tempdb for createing master key, becuase masterkey was already created by someone in the master database of system database.

So, I used tempdb just for testing.

I created master key and certificate.

I made a backup of the key and certificate.

I use certifcate to encrypt the other my own database.

The SQL SERVER gave me a waring of backup for the key and certificate.

Now when I tried to see the system certificates in my own database it shows nothing in the results... What should I do now..?

I tried to remove the master key and certificate to recreate them again from my database , but it gives error.

  • I use certifcate to encrypt the other my own database.

What this mean? Did you encrypt the entire database with Transperant Database Encryption? Or do you mean something else.

I tried to remove the master key and certificate to recreate them again from my database , but it gives error.

Please, always include any error messages you get when you post.

Also, please post the output from "SELECT @@version" so that we know what you have.

  • Can I use "tempdb" system database and follow the same thing with it?

Like use tempdb-> create master key-> create certificate-> use that certificate to encrypt the personal database-

than I will create one database in SqlServer called "student", I will enter few fake records.

    can I do this?
