Data Connection Errors using InfoPath 2007 with MOSS 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

Good day all from Down Under!

Our developers developed an browser-based InfoPath 2007 form template and loaded onto a MOSS 2007 forms library.

The Infopath form uses web services to connect to UDC data sources for populating list of values for drop down boxes etc etc.  MOSS 2007 authentication is via Active Directory.  The MOSS environment and the InfoPath form template sit within the company's firewall and is intended for internal use only i.e. no external access.

An "Owner member" user has no problems access the InfoPath form with all the necessary UDC data loaded.  However when a "Contributing member" user tries to load the form template, the user gets a "Data connection error" message box.  Details of the error message reviewed the user has problems connecting to all the UDC data sources.  This poses a security issue and is impacting deployment of our InfoPath application.  Our developer insisted that this error is due to our MOSS/Active Directory setup issue.

    • Can anyone verify if this is the case?
    • Why does an owner member has no problems while a contributing member does?
    • Is this something to do with setting up "full trust" for the form and data source, as mentioned else where in this forum?

Please help and grateful for any suggestions.

Many thanks for your assistance in advance.

    Cheers,

    Lobbie68

  • Hi all,

Found the reason for data connection error message.  The data sources were not "Approved".
Checked in, Approved and make Read Only for all data UDCX files and problem went away.
