Try using WSUS to push out all updates.  It is easy to manage and is fairly light-weight so it could potentially sit on an existing server.  Also it is free, we all like free.  WSUS settings can be managed through a GPO after adding an included ADM file to your domain controller.  This will solve all of your update problems not just IE7.  The WSUS version of IE7 is also un-installable which is nice... just in case.

  • Sorry to resurrect a long-dead post but you seem to have experience of deploying IE7 with WSUS.  This is exactly what I'm trying to do but it seems that unless an administrator logs into the workstations to which the IE7 has been deployed the install never happens.  All of our other updates work fine from WSUS but this is a real problem because none of our users have local administrator rights.  Any ideas?
