Windows CE 7 requirements RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I can not find the minimum requirements of windows CE 7 regarding the uC.

Which ARM family or CORTEX can run Windows CE 7? I need if possible a list in order to choose the appropriate uC for our device.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Windows CE 7 supports ARM processor. TI, Freescale, Nvidia provides processors with ARM core. As per your requirement you need to check/select.

In order to select a processor for Embedded compact 7. You need to also see if an existing BSP is available or not. or whether it is feasible for you to clone any similar available BSP for the selected processor.

If you would contact any of these companies who makes processor with ARM core, they would help you to choose. This decision you have to take because we dont know your requirements.

    Hope this will help !

  • To be exact WEC 7 supports ARM v5, v6 and v7. It does not support v4 anymore. However when selecting a CPU, you need to consider the BSP that is provided by the manufacturer, as the BSP’s performance and quality will determine how well your device will perform, while hardware features are less cardinal in the selection process as long as you have the peripherals that you need.
