Video playback on "challenged" hardware - performance tips appreciated RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello everyone...

I have a MediaElement that will be playing videos. It works for the most part but when I run on a machine with low end hardware (Dell Duo - 2 GB Ram, 1.5 GHz Atom 32bit Atom processor) my audio and video don't want to keep in sync. I notice that the CPU usage jumps from 2-5% to over 85%.

Other than getting better hardware does anyone have any suggestions on how to improve playback performance?

Would the following settings be detremental enough to warrant my removing them?

    1. I have stretch set to Fill

    2. The element has a "Clip" applied to it

edited to add: I am working with Expression Blend 4  & .Net 4

    thanks!

    Mike

  • I'm not sure, you might get better answers in a WPF or Silverlight specific forum, most of the folks who read/post here are pretty focused on Blend specific issues.
