New suggestions for Small Basic RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • 1. Utilities bar (to execute some utils like 'Color selector' and 'Font view', also these utils should have access code and edit it)
    2. Color object. (Shorter graphicswindow.GetColorFromRGB())
    3. Variable or sub list panel.
    4. Functions, for example
        Function GetNum(index) returns outVal
           outVal = index + 10
           'Returns here
    5. Wider access to system ('SystemTray', 'TaskBar', 'WindowStyle' and ect.)

  • Nope. I have to disagree.  SmallBasic needs to stay simple. Small.

    Items 1, 3, 4 and 5 are already available in Visual Basic. There is no need to recreate them in SmallBasic as well. When a SmallBasic user starts to feel confined by the environment, it is time to set SB aside and pick up another language.

    Item 2 has some merit. Personally, I like that there are only 24 options on the itelli-type spinner. If the list gets much longer, it will lose its effectiveness. I like that you have to type in GraphicsWindow.GetColorFromRGB to get the needed value. It is logically a graphics property. And a color object would have no stand alone usefullness like most of the other options in the spinner.
