Linking error: LNK2019 when calling NuiInitialize() RRS feed

  • Question

  •      I am trying to create a basic application using the Kinect. I have downloaded the latest version of the SDK, and I have included <windows.h>, <comdeff.h>, and "MSR_NuiApi.h". However, when I call the NuiInitialize() function I get a linking error: LNK2019 on the function call. I looked up the error and LNK2019 means that there is an unresloved symbol. So, I looked up the NuiInitialize() function and could only find a declaration in MSR_NuiApi.h, and I couldn't find a definition of the function. Has anyone else experienced this problem, or is just me and I'm missing something obvious? Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • I don't get the linking error.  Which version of windows are you using?  Do the samples from the SDK run properly?  If so, then perhaps you haven't added the library path to the Kinect libs into your project configuration.  Take a look at the property pages of the samples, then make yours correspond to what is provided in the samples, and see if that helps out.
