MediaFoundation video streaming fails 0x80070491 in Windows 7 OS? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm developing a windows desktop application to record .mp4 video with streaming from USB camera using MediaSession technique. The camera supports two video formats: YUY2 and MJPG

Application supposes to capture a video for the following resolutions:

    1. 640 * 480
    2. 1280 * 720
    3. 1920 * 1080

The above resolutions support 60fps in both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 port.

I'm able to record a video in Windows 8/8.1/10 operating system but the same application is not working in Windows 7 and receiving the HRESULT "0x80070491 - There was no match for the specified key in the index" error after starting the media session(Note: The same device is working fine in Directshow).

The error is occurring saliently for MJPG HD and FullHD resolutions and inconsistently failing in YUY2 HD resolution. I have searched this error on Internet and got information like "the device should be a problem".Please refer the below StackOverflow page  "https://stackoverflow.com/questions/22788043/imfsourcereader-giving-error-0x80070491-for-some-resolutions".

With the help of the above link, I have changed the device descriptor for MJPG video format from 60fps to 59/61fps. After changing the device descriptor, I'm able to do video streaming and recording in Windows 7.

Why is it working after changing the device property? Is there any fix for this issue or is this known issue? Please let me know if any fix available for Windows 7.

    Thanks in advance.
