unwanted language packs RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi,

Every time i install .NET framework, or one of it's service packs, it also installs (grrrrrr) whole bunch of language packs, including chinees, portugeese, greek, etc. etc. etc.

    Why?
How can I get rid of that? I've been uninstalling these packs 10 times already, and yet every time I update .NET framework with a patch from the internet, or reinstall it completely, it (again argghh!) downloads them from the internet and installs.
     :(

    Any ideas?

  • Win XP Pro SP2, latest updates

I had VS 2005 and VS 2008 installed. Had.

I removed everyting, that means, all Visual studios, MSDN, SDKs, Document Explorers, all .NET versions and their (grrr!) language packs.

    Then I installed

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1

    from here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=ab99342f-5d1a-413d-8319-81da479ab0d7&DisplayLang=en

    That is the one right?

    And guess what.

The language packs are back, and also it deployed .NET 3.0 and their language packs and .NET 2.0 and their language packs.

Now I am uninstalling it again, will try this tool: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2006/05/30/611355.aspx

If this does not help I will probably have to reinstall windows.

PS. is there an icon "blowing my brains out"? :( :)
