Checking of which control on previous form that call this form RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi guys,

its been awhile since i try programming in vb.net. Thus i am faced with a really simple issue.

I have this reportviewer that will generate different report base on which control on the numbers of different forms that call it.

I want to know how can I know which form call this reportviewer out.

Is there anyway to do it?

  • Why not pass in which version you want? or have the form pick the correct report generator based on input? You could refactor your code to use multiple report generators and where possible use inheritence to reduce code duplication. Either way having the report generator dependent on "knowing" which control/form invoked it is simply not the right way to go.

  • Move this thread from VB general forum to Visual Studio Report Controls forum for the better answer. This forum mainly discusses reporting functionality including the integrated report designer and viewer controls for adding rich data reports to Windows Forms and ASP.NET applications. Thanks.
