Missing files after MSVisual-Studio 11 Developer Preview Installation

    Question

  • So whenever I open an example program or fresh blank project, I compile it to expect something to compile. Instead I get a bunch of missing files errors to do with the new UI. I am trying to repair the install, but I just don't think that will work. If it doesn't work, whom may I contact to receive the missing new dev. files from?

Here is the last attempted build output for a fresh project:

  • Are you building this on the Windows Developer Preview with developer tools (x64) image?  The Visual Studio install itself does not include the files required to build Metro style apps.

  • Thanks man, I figured it was a problem because the release of MSVisual Studio 11 Developers Preview I got from MSDN contained the templates for building retro apps, but wouldn't compile. This upsets me because I do not have any 64-bit system. I do however, want to make a special metro app, that i must keep a secret :p

  • Also, when will MetroApp Development be achiever on 32 bit processors? After fall 2012 when Win8 is released?

  • Hi David,

No dates have yet been announced for updates.  We know this is a pain point, but don't yet have an ETA.
