How to identify the version of Operating System in Virtual Machine. RRS feed

  • I have installed multiple virtual machines in my Azure subsription. Now I am feeling difficulty to identify the Operating System version which I have installed. So please provide a solution to find out the VM operating system version.(Note: This is not guest OS).

  • Hi Jibin OP,
    How about displaying OS name and its Build No on the right below of Windows Desktop?

    How to do it...
      1. run "regedit"

          

      2. on the left pane, select
           HKEY_CURRENT_USER  >  Control Panel  >  Desktop

      3.  on the right pane, change value of "PaintDesktopVersion" to "1"
           
      3. Log off your computer, and Log on

      4. OS version and Buil No appears on the below right corner
