Windows App Certification Kit Fails

    Question

  • I'm having a problem with the cert kit failing on one of my included images:

    Test Appx Manifest Resources
    FAILED
    Appx Manifest Resources Validation
    • Error: Following errors were encountered while running the Appx Manifest Resources Validation test.
      • Image reference "Images\Badge.png": Scale "100": Image "C:\Users\Daniel\AppxLayouts\1fddb2d8-c2e7-46ae-a44d-1ad66fd79d41VS.Release.AnyCPU.Daniel\Images\Badge.png" is required to be monochrome with white or transparent colors
    • Impact if not fixed: The application may fail to install on Windows if the strings or images declared in your application are incorrect. If the application is able to install, your application logo or other images required by your application may not display correctly.
    • How to fix: Look at the error message provided by the Windows App Certification test and take appropriate action to fix the string and/or image. For more information follow the link below:

It passes everything else but this.  I've rebuilt the mentioned Badge.png multiple times, including downloading a trial version of photoshop so i can ensure the "monochrom" setting... but it continues to fail.

Badge.png is 24x24, monochrome and setup as the "Badge Logo" under Notifications.

It is made up of only 2 colors... black and white as per instructions...

I do not have any notifications setup for this app, is it possible i can delete this image and go without it?

If it's required, can someone give me basic instructions for creating an image that would qualify?

  • Hi Daniel,

If you aren't using notifications then you shouldn't need this. Clear it out of your manifest and you should be able to delete the image.
