Strange behavior in VS 2010 when moving an Office project to another location. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I experienced a strange error in VS 2010 when doing the following

    1. Create a new project (Addin for PPT 2007)
    2. Save project and exit VS
    3. Move project to a different location
    4. Open the moved project with VS 2010 again
    5. VS 2010 reports that the same solution has been created by an older version (???) and needs to be converted (.csproj file changes then)
    6. When adding a new ribbon to the project, the designer does not start up due to a lot of compile errors in the new Ribbon class. For example, the Ribbon class is now derived from Microsoft.Office.Tools.Ribbon.OfficeRibbon (instead of Microsoft.Office.Tools.Ribbon.RibbonBase in a "fresh" project)

In summary, the project is broken just by copying it to a different location - this was never a problem with earlier versions of VS.

    So what did I wrong?

    Thank you in advance,

  • Hi Oliver,

Thanks for posting in the MSDN Forum.

I would recommend you do following steps for further trouble shooting:

    1.       Create another new project (Addin for PPT 2007) on the particular PC which you create you have create add-in you mentioned in the post and move it to other PC to see whether your issue will be occurred again?

    2.       Create a new winform application and move it.

    3.       Create an Excel addin project and move it.

    4.       Create a WPF application project and move it.

I hope it can help you.
