DHCP Name Reservations being renamed RRS feed

  • Question

  • by default our printers get assigned a naming convention that start with NPI then followed with a series of numbers and letters. [NPI00E***]

    Currently I'm making DHCP reservations for printers on the network, and using my networks naming proper naming convention for the reservations. Is it possible that if i dont change the name on the client end it will update the name reservation that i have given it to its default name?

    overall issue::
    printer name reservations on the DHCP server are being automatically renamed to the default printer client name when ever we have a power outage that affect our routers and or switches. I cant figure out who or what is setting these reservation names back to a different name than the one given. I didnt think a reservation name could be changed or updated by the client. Thanks for clearing this up for me in advanced.
