Bing Maps V8 Interactive SDK RRS feed

  • Question

  • What is the status and priority for "Find Business by Query" and "Find business by what/where" search module?

V7 Interactive SDK code does not work well with V8 map, unable to receive a response or callback answer/result.

When are these search modules available...

  • The Search module in Bing Maps no longer supports business searches. Instead use the point of interest data sources in the Bing Spatial Data Services.

  • I experimented with the Spatial Data Services, the queryOpton "filter" does not produce the same results as V7 "Find Business by Query". Also, filtering by ID 'EntityTypeID eq 5540' is not user-friendly, the average user would not know to use '5540'...

    V8 Example:

filter: 'EntityTypeID eq 5540' // Filter to retrieve Gas Stations

What is the equivalent "Find Business by Query" in the Spatial Data Services?

For example (V7) Query: "Starbucks San Francisco, CA"

Results: I am automatically taken to San Francisco, CA and all Starbucks are returned within the radius.

"Pizza" search would return a variety of pizza restaurants.

This does not appear to work with "filter" in Spatial Data Services, I receive "0" results with
"Starbucks San Francisco, CA" or "Pizza"?

  • There is no equivalent at this time. Th v7 feature is powered by the legacy SOAP services which are being retired. Only a small number of applications used this feature. Most performed nearby searches instead.

  • This feature is the core of my application and quite an intelligent search module...

Is there anyway to request this module to be migrated into V8?

  • I'll add it to the feature request list. Can you email me your account id at richbrun at so I can link it to the request.
