CD burning in windows CE (from command line or API) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good day,

I'd like to know if theres a CD burner which available for windows CE (either from Microsoft or 3rd party - preferably freeware)

The CD burning needs to be done from an application, so a command line tool (like cdburn in windows) is preferred.

  • I'm not aware of any utilities for this.  There's a CD ROM filesystem driver in Windows CE, but that's not the same as having an interface to burning a disk.

What do you plan to do with this?  Backups?  We might be able to make an alternate suggestion if you can tell us what you want to do, rather than how you've already decided to do it.

  • Thanks for the reply.

We're developing a kiosk station that allows the user to download files to USB storage devices, Memory cards, or blank CD's \ DVD's

  • I guess you'll have to develop the software for this yourself. There are
several open source projects that do CD burning, so that could be a good
You may want to ask yourself if this requirement is really worth all the
work though... Who still uses CD's and DVD's? I've got a CD/DVD burner
in my dev PC but haven't burned a CD or DVD in ages. The price of small
flash drives is most of the times lower than the price of a pack of
blank CD's... I guess it all depends of what type of data you are
writing that would justify a CD or DVD.
Another solution may be the standalone CD/DVD burners that you may be
    able to hack into...

    Good luck,
