Problem with photo sharing link RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to take advantage of storing photos on SkyDrive and then link to them within my app. I'm experimenting with the "read-only share" URLs that are generated, e.g.:

The problem I'm having is that this shows the photo as part of an interactive navigation system. I only want the actual file linked to so that my app can display the picture. I don't want all of the navigation chrome.

    What can I do?

  • Hi Philip, I think what you want is the "Source" attribute of the File on SkyDrive, provided that the file is in a public folder:

  • Thank you for this. Does your point that the file needs to be in a public folder overcome the limitation stipulated in the documentation:

When your app requests a file, photo, video, or audio, the returned object includes a preauthenticated URL as the value of the source attribute. Preauthenticated URLs allow access to a file without the need for additional permissions. Preauthenticated URLs expire and should not be stored or reused later.

In other words, does the use of a public folder mean that the URL is not preauthenticated and therefore *can* be stored? Or should I fetch a source URL every time I want to retrieve the file?
