Hide Ms Word Document.Open / Document.SaveAs progress bar RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, all!

    When I open word document and save it to XPS using Automation, sometimes a progress bar appears there - the one like mentioned in this question, but in MS Word, not in Excel

    Can I hide that progress bar? what properties do I have to set for this?

    Thank you in advance for your answers.

  • Hi Mike Maryland,

    I try to make a test using code below to save document as XPS and I did not see and progress bar.

    so you can try to test it on your side.

    Sub demo()
    ActiveDocument.ExportAsFixedFormat OutputFileName:= _
    ActiveDocument.Path & "\" & ActiveDocument.Name & ".xps", ExportFormat:= _
    wdExportFormatXPS, OpenAfterExport:=False, OptimizeFor:= _
    wdExportOptimizeForPrint, Range:=wdExportAllDocument, _
    Item:=wdExportDocumentContent, IncludeDocProps:=True, KeepIRM:=True, _
    CreateBookmarks:=wdExportCreateNoBookmarks, DocStructureTags:=True, _
    BitmapMissingFonts:=True, UseISO19005_1:=False
    End Sub

    Document.ExportAsFixedFormat Method (Word)

    WdExportFormat Enumeration (Word)

    also you can disable the screen updating while executing your code with line below.

    Application.ScreenUpdating = False
    Application.ScreenUpdating = True

    Application.ScreenUpdating Property (Word)

    if still you get progressbar then there is no way to remove/ hide it.

    there is no any property or method in object model to hide progressbar.
