Does the kinect output amplitude images? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I was wondering whether there is a way of getting amplitude images from the sensor? From what I understand it is easy to get intensity images, but I'm interested in amplitude images to perform TOF specific calibration.

    Thanks,

    Benoît

  • You can get the intensity values from the Infrared frames, but I don't know that this is what you need. We only provide 30fps of IR to any application.

  • Ok, thanks.

From what I understand, a TOF camera can output intensity and/or amplitude images. You can see the difference for instance in “Calibration of the Intensity-Related Distance Error of the PMD TOF-Camera” §2 (http://www.cg.informatik.uni-siegen.de/data/Publications/2007/lindner07intensity.pdf) -> a is the amplitude, h the intensity.
