Azure Database cost keeps rising at about $10/day although $4.99/month option is chosen RRS feed

  • Hi all,

I recently moved an old in-house web server to Azure and all went well except that my cost is rising rapidly, at a rate of almost $10/day. Th SQL database accounts for the biggest chunk of the cost, as shown here.

I have two databases, and both have the Basic Tier object with the promised cost of only $4.99/month, as shown here:

During transition to Azure, I had originally created 6 databases, and some of them were assigned vCore, and others the Elastic pool option, but then I deleted all but 2 and assigned both the Basic Tier within a couple of days. However, according to the usage report I received from Microsoft support, vCore is still the biggest culprit as shown here:

I spoke to a Microsoft support specialist a couple of times, and we even had a screen-sharing session, but he said databases was not his area of expertise and he can't explain this.

Any advise would be much appreciated! Thanks!
