Error uploading VS2012 Project Templates VSIX to the Gallery RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am working on a new VSIX project for DotNetNuke project templates, I thought I was ready to go, but when I upload here to the gallery (attempted twice) I get an error.

    The latest Log Reference is

    #a713557a-41d9-40b8-ad9a-fda9c86f13de

    Any help would be appreciated

  • Chris there are lot of errors in the uploaded vsix which is why the validation is failing.

Invalid Express : The package contains content that cannot target Visual Studio Express products.

Long Path Names : The extension contains files that may exceed the maximum path limit.

  • Awesome, thank you for looking into the file.

I'll remove the express reference, but is there any way to work around the max path issue?

The template works fine when installing it manually, no path issues because it is designed for a specific development environment configuration (though I can test out some other configurations and see if that causes problems.

  • Just as an update for anyone else who might run into similar issues, my Path issues were addressed by changing the vstemplate names in my project (this VSIX is multiple project templates).

I also ended up having to upload it as a Tool, because it is multiple project templates, rather than a single project template.

  • Hi Chris,

I’m glad to hear that you found what caused your issue.
