[PHP][Web Apps] CNAME record not found for subdomain RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have 2 Wordpress Web Apps on Azure: mysite.azurewebsites.net and mysite2.azurewebsites.net - I've set up a custom domain to the first site without any problems: mysite.co

For the second Web App I would like it as a subdomain, so mysite2.mysite.co pointing to mysite2.azurewebsites.net.

I've set up the CNAME for the subdomain as follows:

    awverify.mysite2.mysite.co - awverify.mysite2.azurewebsites.net

    www.mysite2.mysite.co - mysite2.azurewebsites.net

    Also an A Record:

    mysite2.mysite.co - *IP ADDRESS*

After all of this and over 30 hours ago and Azure is still not verifying the domain, with the error:

"A CNAME record pointing from mysite2.mysite.co to mysite2.azurewebsites.net was not found. Alternative record awverify.mysite2.mysite.co to awverify.mysite2.azurewebsites.net was not found either."

I've followed this tutorial to the tee: http://www.stefanjohansson.org/2012/12/how-to-configure-custom-dns-names-for-multiple-subdomain-based-azure-web-sites/

What am I doing wrong? Do I not need the A record? Thanks for any help.

  • I'm an idiot, I forgot I was using Cloudflare and had to do the DNS on there instead of Hostgator :/ It all works now! :)
