Has Anyone Wrapped Bing Maps AJAX 7 for Use in an AngularJS app? RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I am converting a complex page that uses Bing Maps to AngularJS.

My question -- has anyone integrated the Bing Maps api into an AngularJS app?

    Any advice? Is it feasible?

  • Yes, I am currently working on a directive now.

It basically renders a map by using <map></map> tags and the consumer can pass attributes to it such as width, height and sub directives for layers.

It also emits events such as "map move start" and "map move end". It also has isolated scope to bind zoom and center point.

It is a work in progress, but worth the effort. Let me know if you need help in creating one.

  • Hi Zero_One or Cbr600rr,

If you are working on an AngularJS wrapper for Bing Maps, I'd be happy to assist. Have you made this open source on CodePlex or Github? I can likely find a few other people who would be interested in helping put this together. Send me an email at ricky_brundritt at Hotmail.com and we can discuss things further.

  • Was there any progress on this?  We are starting a project in AngularJS, and while I see directives for Google and ESRI, I don't see much for Bing.  (There was one project but it's "pulse" was flatlined.)  I'd hate to remove Bing from the running just because there's no support for Angular, but I don't want to be forced to start writing directives for it immediately either.

  • Take a look at this project: https://github.com/Credera/angular-bing-maps It's fairly new but works well.
