Need for Rating Boards RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am involved in an app submission where the app is not a game. It is an app that will be in the Education category. We were rejected in the Certification step for a few reasons. There was mention that this may be an issue with Rating Boards. I also saw that apps do not have to be in the Game category to be considered a game.

I would like clarification that Rating Boards only apply to apps that are games, whether they are in the Game category or some other category.  If the app is not a game there is no need for Rating Boards.

  • Hi Mike,

Thanks for the question. Only some countries/regions require your app to be rated through a ratings board. However, the determination of whether your app is a game or not is based on the app's purpose, not the listing category. You can find more details about this on the Age ratings and ratings boards page.

If you have specific questions about your app, I would invite you to submit a support request for further assistance.

    Thanks!
