  • Since MFTs are components used by applications, then is it like open platform, I mean any develper can develop there own codecs and other DSP object and and put into the MFT object model?

    Yes, that's correct.

    If you want your MFT to be used by other applications, there are some limitations. In particular, for audio/video formats where a codec is already provided in Windows, the in-box codec takes precedence, unless the application specifically opts to use a different codec.

  • That's correct, an MFT is just another COM object which implements the IMFTransform interface and is registered with MF .
