7303 Error on Sql Server 2008 R2 + Mysql ODBC 5.1.8 / 5.1.5 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm using
Windows Server 2008 Small Business 64bits
    SQL Server Express 2008
Mysql ODBC Connector 5.1.5 or 5.1.8 for 64 bits

I'm getting the same problem 7303:
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "Mysql".

I reinstall the ODBC connector and sure the name of Data Source is the same i'm using in linked server.

    Sql Services Running:
    Sql Server(SQLEXPRESS)
    Sql Sever Browser

    I need suggestions, thanks.

  • Hi james47,

Please make sure the bit version of SQL Server is identical to the bit version of Mysql ODBC Connector.

We could get the bit version of SQL Server by executing SELECT @@VERSION.

Meanwhile I would like to recommend that you download 64-bit Mysql ODBC Connector from mysql.com and try again.

If anything is unclear, please let me know.

  • Hi.

Somebody also had this issue in this article discussion, maybe try absolute connect string:

  • Sorry but I already read all comments. With absolute String  said that is impossible to connect on server 10.10.10.10:3306

Meybe the version of windows or sql server(64bits).

My old Windows server standard + Sql Server 2008 (32 bits) works fine.
