Measure Displacement on the kinect RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi I have had some trouble with writing code for the kinect. I have tried many internet search combinations but I have not been able to find a tutorial on how to measure displacement (like measure the distance that your leg moves from a point of origin to a point of rest) with the skeletal tracker on the kinect. Is there anyone that could point me in the right direction?

  • Could you not just obtain and store the X,Y,Z coordinate for each of the joints, then at the next point of rest/measurement? obtain the coordinates again and calculate the offset distances.. Although you would need to decide what constitutes "at rest", for instance maybe a specific joint does not move more than a tolerance distance  (since there will be some "wobble" in the figures) for say 0.5 second.

    Just a thought.
