Failed to decrypt using provider 'RsaProtectedConfigurationProvider'. Error message from the provider: The parameter is incorrect RRS feed

We moved an application to a set of new servers.

After moving the application, we started getting the following error:

Failed to decrypt using provider 'RsaProtectedConfigurationProvider'. Error message from the provider: The parameter is incorrect.

    We've tried the following:

Machine Keys --> Generating keys (both validation and decryption keys) on one new server and copying the same values to other new servers

Machine Keys --> Checked `Automatically generate at runtime` and `Generate a unique key for each application`

After which, we restarted the pool. But the same issue persists.

    Does anyone have a solution?

    Hi Zesty,

    Zesty

Failed to decrypt using provider 'RsaProtectedConfigurationProvider'. Error message from the provider: The parameter is incorrect.

The error message is: The parameter is incorrect, I suggest that you can check if the parameter(for example, the connection string.) you tried to decrypt is correct.

Please refer to: The parameter is incorrect.

    We've tried the following:

Machine Keys --> Generating keys (both validation and decryption keys) on one new server and copying the same values to other new servers

Machine Keys --> Checked `Automatically generate at runtime` and `Generate a unique key for each application`

These two operations are related to "Error message from the provider: The RSA key container could not be opened.".

It is invalid to copy keys directly from one machine to another.

You will need to "export the encryption key on your machine, then import it on the other machine". For this, please refer to: RSA error.
