  • Hi Jacob,

    Git is a Distributed Version Control System (DVCS) that uses a local repository to track and version files.  Changes are shared with other developers by pushing and pulling changes through a remote, shared repository.

    To work with Visual Studio Online when using Git, we need to use the git tools accompany with Visual Studio, it doesn't come with command-line version but library only version(libgit2). See this page for more information.
