Is the starter kit worth it? RRS feed

According to all of your experiences working with this starter kit, is it worth it?  I want to make a club website, but don't want to spend weeks working on this only to scrap it down the road because of showstopping bugs.  Do many of you have working sites out there, or is this kit so bug filled that it needs a bug zapper?  Thanks for your input!

The starter kit is just that, a starter kit.  There are a lot of things that are not implemented, which you may consider a "show stopper" but it's only supposed to be a starting point.  Use it for that and you'll be happy.  Try and use it as a complete club site and you won't.

As for being "worth it" I would say it has been for me.  There are a lot of pieces I can use, a lot I have to rewrite or trash completely, but not having to write from scratch is always "worth it".

Try it.  If you don't like it then don't use it.

I'd have to echo Jeff's comments, "It's a start". While there are some annoying bugs, I don't see any that are "show stoppers". Look through the bug list/fix post (http://forums.asp.net/thread/1220394.aspx) or search this forum for answers. If you don't find the answer, post your question and I'm sure someone will be able to help you.

As for working web sites, I'm sure there are more than are listed on Sue's edream (http://edream.org/Links.aspx?skid=2) but it will give you some success stories to look at.

    Hope this helps.
