Inplace upgrade of windows 2008 r2 w/Hyper-V to windows 2012 r2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there documentation on doing an in-place upgrade of a windows 2008 R2/Hyper-V server to Windows 2012 R2 w/Hyper-V server? The VMs running are using iSCSI attached disks from a network SAN. I haven't found anything saying how to do it, but I assume I can just install it and go. However, I have seen some things in regards to migrating that suggest issues with VHDs and Pass through disks. Also, I noticed that you of course need to shutdown your VMs during the process. Is there anything else anyone has come across or is this a big no-no?

  • Hi John, i have tried to realize an upgrade in place of one my hyper-vs on pre production evironment, and it crash with a BSOD. There is no documentation to do this upgrade. I recommend you that plan a migration process.

    Thank you.
