Re-Indexing of SQLCE Database Created on CE6.0 and used on WEC7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are currently migrating from CE6.0 to Compact 7 and testing our application compatibility. We use a managed application with a SQLCE database.

We have found that on WEC7 if we query a SQLCE database created in CE6 that indexed string searches do not return any results until the indexes are rebuilt. Numerical queries work fine.

As far as our research goes we are led to believe there shouldn't be any compatibility differences between SQLCE on CE6.0 and Compact 7 but have noticed that the SQLCE versions have changed in the registry.

One solution to this is to rebuild indexes in our application on OS update. But it would be nice to know if we are missing anything that could allow us to upgrade from CE6.0 to Compact 7 maintaining the existing application and database.

Has anyone else experienced this or know what could be causing it?

    Kind regards, Mark

  • Hi Mark,

No idea what could be causing it as I don't believe there was any feature set change between drops of SQL CE.  You will have to look at the download details for the version you are using to know and I am not sure how you would find those at this point.
