VS 2017 RC update to full version

    Question

  • Hello,

I have installed Visual Studio 2017RC. When the full version will be released my RC will get update to full version? Or do I have to uninstall the RC and install again a new full version of Visual Studio 2017?

    Thanks for help.
    Regards, Adrian.

  • Hi Adrian,

Since VS 2017 passed the Preview builds, the last RC1, RC2 RC3 and RC4 have been updated without uninstalling, so it is expected that the full version will be installed too without uninstallation.

  • Hi,

    Welcome to MSDN forum.

You don't have to uninstall visual studio 2017RC like Carlos said, The upgrade works when upgrading at the same SKU level e.g. upgrading from VS 2017 RC Professional to VS 2017 RTM Professional. The upgrade from RC to RTM won’t work if the SKU level is different, e.g. when upgrading from Community to Professional, Professional to Enterprise, or downgrading from Enterprise to Professional, or Professional to Community.

    Best regards,

    Joyce
