DB connection problem - connection SQL Anywhere 11 using Entity Framework RRS feed

  • Question

  • So, I am trying to simulate the problem at my end.

I have taken a new system without any software.

    Following steps executed :

Installed Complete SQL Anywhere 11 (with latest patch

Created DSN for the database (thru ODBC)

Copied SF.NET exe and ran it. Got error for missing .net framework.

      Installed .net framework 4.5

Now when I run the application, I get the error ‘Database Error The specified store provider cannot be found in the configuration , or is not valid’

This error occurs if the provide provider (ADO.NET) is missing for Entity Framework.  Since I have installed complete SQL Anywhere, even ADO.NET has been

Installed. I am not sure why this error occurred.

    Work around

I re-installed ADO.NET using ‘Deploy SQL Anywhere for Windows (that is created an MSI and installed in the new system). After the installation, I get this error

‘Database Error The underlying provider failed on Open’.

  • Is this a 64bit or 32bit application? Is this a 64bit or 32bit operation system? You may have to create the DSN in the version of odbcad32.exe located in SYSWOW64 if you are running a 32bit exe on a 64bit OS
