Running As Application Pool Identity RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am learning the Microsoft Thread Modeling Tools 2016.  I have a Webservice running on IIS that is using the ApplicationPoolIdentity.   But the Running As property of the Web Service stencil does not have that special ApplicationPoolIdentity choice.  Should I create a custom template for it or just use a Network Service?

In fact, does using different "Running As" field create different analysis results?  I believe it should.   If the "Running As" is set as "Not Selected", does it just use the lowest security choice to do the analysis?

    Thanks in advance,

    Kevin.

  • I typically use "Standard User without elevation", but you can also change the template, if you think that it would be a better option for you.

    Best regards,
