How to add a dataset in bids RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am using a report table in my report in BIDS, works fine.

I need to add an additional table onto my report (for different data). I drag over the table, but I don't see any way to add an addtional dataset.

I need to be able to put in a different query for the new table, but don't see any way..

  • Hi,

Simply click on Data tab(you must be having 3 tabs here first one is Data, Second one is Layout and last one is Preview tab). In data tab you would be able to see dataset which you have already created, so here click on that dataset, then you would be able to see <New Dataset> in drop down, So simply click on this and you would be able to create a new dataset. In case of any issue, then let me know.

    Thanks, Sumit

  • I don't think that helps me..

I have a dataset and table in BIDS 2005 already. I want to add an additional table with a new dataset to the same report.

    How do I do that?

  • Yeah I see that, but I can't add in the correct dataset.

I created my first and only dataset via the wizard, it is connected to my first table and works just fine.

When I drag over a new table under the first table, the only choices I have are for the first tabels dataset 'dataset1'.

I need a new dataset for my new table (and new query).

I created a new datasource..but that doesn't have a place for my query.

I can never seem to make a new/additonal dataset to use with the new table.
