Filter on 'greater than' in Table Import Wizard to Datacube RRS feed

  • <p>Hi all,</p><p>I am just beginning with PowerPivot in Excel 2010 - my first post so bear with me!</p><p>I am connecting to a datacube (Analysis Services) and in the Table Import Wizard I want to limit the amount of data fetched using a filter on a date quarter. The operator I want to use is 'greater than' but there isnt one. </p><p>How can I do this - will I need to use the 'MDX' operator and if so what is the syntax for the MDX Builder?</p><p><span class="t-marker"></span><span class="t-marker"></span></p>

  • To mimic a greater than operator in MDX you would do something like the following, selecting an open ended range of quarters:

    SELECT ...

    WHERE [Date].[Quarter].[Q3 2013]:NULL

    Although generally cubes do not make a good data source for powerpivot as cubes are aggregation engines and don't perform all that well when you try to extract detailed information.

  • Thanks Darren,

    Leaving the second parameter empty to the 'Range (Inclusive)' operator in the wizard defaulted the 'to' to NULL in the MDX.
