Options on Customizing the Custom Filter Page (CustomFilterDlg.aspx)? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey folks, I'm looking to try to create the ability to save previously used custom filters and I wanted to see if anyone's successfully customized the "Custom Filter Page" (CustomFilterDlg.aspx).  Has anyone done this, or have any references that they can point to to customizing this page?

The overall intent here is to provide to the user the ability to "pick from a list" a previously used/saved Custom Filter, instead of requiring them to add it all the time.

    Thanks! - M

  • Hi,

I've done some investigation into the possibilities of customising the PWA builtin views for a few customers in the past, one customer specifically wanted a "Reset View" button which would revert the current view to the default. However I couldn't find a single thing on how that could be done.

So my guess based on that experience is that there is not going to be any supported way for you to do what you're after.

As for unsupported ways I'd be fascinated to hear anything you can find!

  • Oh I can think of a ton from an unsupported perspective.  I could just take the CustomFilterDlg.aspx page, and just modify it to contain the extra logic/process that I want.  However, I'm assuming that customization of that page is an unsupported operation, and it's possible that any new patches/CUs could revert it back to base.

Can someone confirm if modification of the CustomFilterDlg.aspx page is an unsupported operation?

    Thanks! - M

  • Customizing any out of box pages will result in unsupported scenario, however i know there are ways to reset views from backend (DB) and if you connect with MS support, you can get guidance on how best to do that in a supported fashion
