ST Micro ScreenDetection Driver not working? (PDC Laptop + WIndows 8)

Question

Hello! I just installed the developer preview on a PDC Laptop, and I've discovered that screen rotation's not working. It looks like a driver's not loading: ST Micro ScreenDetection Driver. It's claiming that it has problems with this version of Windows. Does Microsoft have updated drivers for this? Having the screen auto-rotate under Windows 7 was quite useful, and I'm missing it under Win8...

Andy Hopper,
Have you tried installing your drivers in compatibility mode?
You can do this by following the below instructions:
· Enter the Start screen
· Move your mouse to the bottom left of the screen to expand the Charms section
· Select Search
· Type Compatibility
· Click Settings in the right column
· Click Run programs made for previous versions of Windows
· Then follow the prompts and direct the troubleshooter to the installer for your computer's driver.
Please post back with your results.
Thanks,

I too have the PDC Acer. In my case the driver (1.0.0.14) is loading properly. It appears under system devices. The screen still does not rotate. I believe there has to be an additional user mode driver that must be installed. I believe the driver on Acer's site includes that exe but it is a piece of cr*p. After I did the BIOS update it crashed every time in Windows 7. See this thread discussing the sensor for some additional info. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowssensorandlocationplatform/thread/37fcf450-7ad6-4ca5-a82d-e45c3a00fd39/
