Support for RTSP in MediaElement RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    In my project we are streaming Video using RTSP so, I have a video stream of form rtsp://" + strStreamingServerAddress + ":8554/mpeg4ESVideo, could I use MediaElement in WPF to see the video or is there any way I could leverage the WPF support.   I saw some similar posts but they were quite ambiguous and I couldn't get much information.

    Any help on the same would really help a lot....

    thnks.

  • Hello Geek,

       Yes MediaElement can play RTSP protocol stream Video.

       Here is an simple sample:

        Set the source property of the MediaElement
    <MediaElement Source="rtsp://<SomeAddress>/industrial.wmv">

    </MediaElement>
     Both MediaElement and MediaPlayer are used to present audio, video, and video with audio content. Both types can be controlled interactively or clock driven. Both types can rely on a minimum of the Microsoft Windows Media Player 10 OCX for media playback.

     Microsoft Windows Media Player is one support client player software for rtsp protocol.

  • Hi Hua,

    My rtsp stream is of form rtsp://url:port/mpeg4ESVideo , but when I set the source property of the MediaControl in my application (test application i wrote to check), it doesn't seem to work.

    But the same streaming happens if I give VLAN player this url.

    Could you throw any lights on the same??

    thanks.
