How can I use VB to detect an image in an E-mail message? RRS feed

  • some more info would be needed - do you want to use outlook to do this? if so, which version? or some other means/frameworks?

  • Hey, it has come full circle.  I am back on this project again. How may years? (:

    I am going to look into VB developer to see if I can figure it out.
    The object will be to detect to see if an E-mail contains a pic then to redirect it to a specific folder.  I have some insights and will check back....

    I suspect it will call for a new post.

  • The MailItem class provides the HTMLBody property which returns a string representing the HTML body of the specified item. In the HTML markup you can search for the <img/> tag which stands for the image. If the Outlook item contains an image you can use the Move method for moving items to a new folder.

    Finally, you may find the Getting Started with VBA in Outlook 2010 article helpful.
